ITN LABORATORIES EQUIPMENT AND THEIR POTENCIAL
BP DEPARTMENT of LIQUID FUELS and CATALYTIC PROCESSES

Department of Liquid Fuels and Catalytic Processes carriers out research and implementation works on processing of engine fuels (including alternative fuels), fuel oils and technology of catalytic processes with special regards to engine fuels components.

The Department can evaluate the conformity of motor gasoline, aviation fuels, diesel fuels, light and heavy heating fuels with a specification, and can perform also testing of components used for the fuels production.

The Department of Liquid Fuels and Catalytic Processes offer of research-development works includes:

on motor gasoline

  • development and industrial implementation of motor gasoline with improved ecological characteristics, including preparations of reformulated gasoline for production

  • adjusting the quality of domestic production motor gasoline to the requirements of European standards

  • evaluation and certification of ethanol and the other alcohols used as gasoline components

  • supervision over developed and implemented production technologies of motor gasoline and evaluation of commercial products

  • preparation of expert opinions on motor gasoline quality in view of its conformity with a specification

on aviation fuels

  • development of new production technologies of aviation fuels, with consideration for the present quality requirements for this type of fuels

  • testing and assessment of aviation fuels quality and evaluation of their usability

on diesel fuels and heating oils

  • development of new production technologies of diesel fuels and heating oils, with consideration for environment protection requirements and increasing quality requirements for this group of fuels

  • testing a quality of biocomponents and development of production technology of diesel fuel and heating oil with their participation

  • development of new testing methods for thorough evaluation of the performance of diesel fuels and heating oils

  • development of processing methods for improving the quality of diesel fuels and heating oils by introduction of suitably selected additives or additive packages.

  • testing and assessment of quality of diesel fuels and heating oils and evaluation of their conformity with specifications

  • testing of low temperature properties of diesel fuels and heating oils,

  • evaluation of microbial contamination of liquid fuels

  • testing of stability of residual fuel oils and compatibility of their components

on alternative fuels

  • assessment of the usefulness of fuel components from replenishable sources for alternative fuel formulations

  • production technologies of alternative fuels

  • development of fuel formulations consisting of fractions from alternative sources

  • evaluation of fuels consisting of fractions from alternative sources

on catalytic processes

  • testing and processing evaluation of new generation catalyst activity for hydrodesulphurization, hydrotreating, and catalytic dewaxing processes

  • preparation of expert opinions on offers of new catalysts and new catalytic processes

  • evaluation of the effect of selected processing parameters on course of a process and product properties for optimization of the process or product quality
